So, in just a few hours I will be heading up the hill in East Penang, Malaysia, to a ‘Vipassana’ – a 10 day silent meditation retreat.
Yep, that’s me, ‘mighty gobbo’ I mean, I talk for a living ffs!
I’m very much looking forward to the silence, I’m absolutely pooping my pants for the sitting in cross-legged for 2 hour stints, 5 times a day….and my biggest fear right now is if I can’t read, won’t I just get really, really bored??
So, I thought I would do a very short post before I ‘go in’ and then I can write a more lengthy detailed post when I ‘get out’
I made the mistake yesterday of googling ‘my vipassana experience’ to find a couple of scary accounts of how those writers went slightly crazy (one started hallucinating on Day 6!!!) but I am staying positive. During my time at the Yoga Retreat in Koh Phangan I met many people who had done a vipassana meditation and all had great experiences, even though they were pretty sparing with the details.
